22. A surprise visit from 2 Colorado residents :)
I was seeing children at one of my least favorite day care centers Wednesday afternoon when Brian called me. I had 2 busy preschoolers at a table with me and was a bit impatient with Brian's slow delivery of news... But it was more than worth it. He told me we had to change our plans for dinner & delivery of Jude to Mission Friends at church- Micah and Ben were in Dallas and on their way to see us!!! Just what Brian and I both needed this week! Our visitors are staying 5 nights with us and we have already gotten some great laugh-therapy benefits from Ben. The boy is hilarious! He talks up a storm and is funny on purpose many times :) Other times just being Ben is pretty funny. He came to Nana from his mother's arms tonight at the ball park- yesss!!! I am "pondering these things in my heart" and considering this an early Mother's Day gift!
Oh yeah- I love having my eldest daughter in the house, too!!!
Of course, pictures to follow...

Alphabet Photos
21. Make a picture with alphabet photos from nature
In 2008, Brian & I took a trip to Charleston SC for our 30th wedding anniversary. I started taking pictures then of alphabet letters hiding out in nature. Brian was very patient as I stopped frequently to snap away. Cemeteries, parks, vines, parking decks,... you'd be surprised what you see when you start looking. And Brian is a very good spotter, too. I have continued this hobby for the past few years and have wanted to actually use them to spell out something important. Today was the day! I finally found the perfect frames at Michael's a few weeks ago. They were a little expensive, considering I need 4+ of them, so I patiently perused the paper for coupons, timed my shopping spree for Fridays when teachers get an extra discount :) and was ready to go. I made some personal artwork for the grandsons' bedroom at Nana & Granddad's house. See if you can figure these out:
My family doesn't like the "E" in Jude's name, but it is one of my favorites! I'm not satisfied with Ben's "n"- so if you see a good "N" in nature, let me know :)
(PS- Kudos to my children for naming their babies with 3-4 letter names! Probably wouldn't have tackled this project for someone named "Elizabeth.")
I'd like to look for some "natural" numbers now, maybe make birth date pictures...

Made it to First #20---
This has been a very fun week, with several new "firsts" accomplished.
18. Cake Decorating Class
I started a 4-week Wilton cake decorating class this week at Hobby Lobby. Kinda funny to walk into HL carrying cookies and all the paraphernalia you need for the class. This week was mostly lecture & lesson, learning lots of baking basics. I didn't even know that "10X" on a powdered sugar box means that it has been sifted 10 times and so is very fine in consistency. Who knew? We did learn how to make perfect Buttercream Frosting, load the icing cone-thingy, and make stars- the basic technique to making those ever-famous character cakes. (Also learned that you could spend a fortune on equipment for this hobby!) Maybe I can post pictures if I decorate anything extraordinaire.
19. Feed the Lorikeets at the LR Zoo
On the 3 or 4 trips I've made to the LR Zoo since becoming a Nana, the fun Lorikeet exhibit has been closed every time. Today Mindy & I took the boys for a perfect-weather trip to the zoo, and, hallelujah, the exhibit was open! And very busy. We got a little cup of whatever lorikeets crave and fed them. And even had one land on my finger :) Video evidence:
20. Use a chainsaw!!!
Haha- this was actually written down on my "Bucket List." Brian was doing some yard improvement and said today was the day I could use a real chainsaw. I kinda wished I had used a little protective gear- had no idea that little wood chips would fly all over me. Ted drove up just in time to video this feat for posterity:
